Managing Partner
Cg
Soon after earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Loyola University, Deborah Sundermann began her professional journey at Cg Tax, Audit & Advisory in 1996 as a staff accountant. In her almost three-decade career at the firm, Deb solidified her role as a talented, innovative accounting and tax professional, as well as an accomplished and visionary leader. In January 2024, Deb was named Cg’s managing director – the second in the firm’s 40-year history, and the first female in the role.
In addition to her role as managing director, Deb is also the shareholder-in-charge of Cg’s Healthcare Services Group where she advises physicians and other professionals on financial, tax, and operational matters. Healthcare providers throughout the northeast region have hired Deb to advise them regarding various practice management and financial matters including revenue cycle and operational performance, as well as physician compensation and equity models. Deb also consults with established practices considering mergers, recruitment of new physicians, expansion into new market areas, and ancillary service offerings. Area health systems have engaged Deb to value physician practices for potential acquisitions.
Deb is a frequent speaker, author, and conducts seminars on topics related to healthcare practice management and revenue enhancement for physician groups, hospitals, and various medical associations. She has been a featured speaker at several national Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) conferences, the annual New Jersey Medical Group Management Association (NJMGMA) Practice Management Conference, and several other professional association meetings. Deb has been published in MD News, The Journal, and numerous other periodicals.
She was also selected in 2021 to join Chief, an exclusive membership network focused on connecting and supporting female executive leaders. Additionally, Deb is vice chair for the Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation, board chair of the Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation, and treasurer of CPC Behavioral Healthcare’s Board of Directors.
Born and raised in Tuckerton, New Jersey, Deb is a proud Jersey Shore resident through and though. She is both grateful and honored to contribute to the growth and well-being of the place she calls home.
Signing the deal is only the beginning. Once a firm takes on private equity investment, leaders must navigate new expectations around growth, accountability, governance, and performance—while continuing to serve clients and maintain firm culture.
In this panel, firm leaders will share what life really looks like after the transaction closes. What changes for partners and staff? How do budgeting, reporting, and decision-making evolve? What role does the investor play in strategy and governance? And what aspects of the firm’s culture, client relationships, and day-to-day operations remain largely unchanged?
Join firms that have already made the transition for a candid discussion on the realities, challenges, and opportunities of operating under private equity ownership.
